KOMSCO is a government enterprise, which was established with full investment from the National Treasury under special law in the year of 1951, as a sole currency manufacturer in the Republic of Korea.
It has been operated under the direct control of the government. Its major function is to manufacture and supply a wide variety of items for the country such as banknote, check, national and public bond, various securities, coin, medal, stamps, etc. It also manufactures papers required for the printed matters as before described.
Since the first export in 1970s, KOMSCO has supplied papers, coins, postage stamps. medals, security inks, working dies for coinage, and other printed matters to 33 foreign countries and obtained approximately USD 300 million. We have trying to diversify our export market and product, including the special security ink with a patent, advanced security products such as electronic ID card and high value-added banknotes and technologies.
KOMSCO will be beborn as the world leading company of security products by manufacturing currency as well as expanding our business into the field of electronic ID cards such as e-ID cards and e-passports.
