KOMSCO is a government enterprise, which was established with full investment from the National Treasury under special law in the year of 1951, as a sole currency manufacturer in the Republic of Korea.
It has been operated under the direct control of the government. It's major function is to manufacture and supply a wide variety of items for the country such as banknotes, coin, check, national ID card, passport, national and public bond, various securities, medal, stamps etc. It also manufactures security papers required for the printed materials.
Since the first export in 1970, KOMSCO has supplied coins, banknotes, banknote paper, special ink, national identification cards and passports to 40 odd countries and obtained more than USD 340million. In particular, KOMSCO has been providing banknote papers to Indonesia for 11 years since 1999. We are promoting to the diversification of export markets and products, including the security ink with a patent, advanced security products such as electronic ID cards and high value-added banknotes and technologies.
