Duty and function
As Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation(KOMSCO), founded on 1 October 1951, manufactures and supplies banknotes, coins, and all kinds of securities, KOMSCO has contributed considerably to the economic growth of Korea. Main products are as follows :
- Printing Product : banknotes, checks, stamps, revenue stamps, passports, securities bonds, National Identification Card(NID), gift certificates, etc.
- Mint Product : coins, decorations, medals, etc.
- Paper Product : banknote paper, check paper, passport paper, security and bond paper, etc
Operation
- KOMSCO consists of the head office, Kyungsan Minting and Printing Complex, Puyo Paper Mill, Technical Research Institute and Seoul Office.
- The head office which is located in Taejon Megalopolis generalizes the whole operation of KOMSCO and manages it's Currency Museum. It especially operates a warehouse to give customers' convenience in supply.
- Kyungsan Mining and Printing Complex, located in Kyungsan, manufactures and supplies printing products, mint products and export products.
- Puyo Paper Mill, in Puyo, produces banknotes and security paper for local and international demands.
- Technical Research Institute, situated in Taejon next to the head office, takes full charge of the development of technology and design related to the business.
- Seoul Office, located in Sungnam, performs the duty connected with the issuing of National Identification Card and takes care of customers in and around Seoul, for their convenience.
